Why is this column called “Black Box”?

Parenting is an extraordinary and demanding voyage. Throughout this journey, we inevitably encounter mistakes. Our objective is to utilize these experiences as learning opportunities, enhancing our parenting approach, and saving other new parents from repeating the same errors. Hence, we have established this column. The essence of this column lies in aiding individuals in overcoming the hurdles they face during their parenting journey, preventing the perpetuation of these well-known mistakes, and ultimately ensuring optimal development for all children.

What is the “Black Box”?

In the aviation industry, the “black box” refers to the flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR). The FDR records crucial flight parameters, while the CVR captures audio from the cockpit during flights. Both devices are designed to withstand extreme conditions and are painted in bright colors for visibility. After an incident or accident, these recorders are recovered and their data is analyzed to investigate the events leading up to the incident. This analysis plays a vital role in improving aviation safety by identifying issues, making necessary adjustments, and implementing preventive measures. The black box is an invaluable tool in ensuring safety and continuous improvement in aviation.

Our inspiration came from reflecting upon the aviation industry’s use of black boxes. We were struck by how openly acknowledging and analyzing mistakes leads to significant improvements in safety and the overall system. We believe that adopting a similar approach in parenting can similarly lead to positive growth for both parents and children.

Why did you create this column?

Our journey as parents has been filled with both triumphs and challenges. Along the way, we realized that one of the most powerful ways we can grow is by acknowledging and learning from our mistakes. These moments of imperfection offer the greatest opportunities for personal growth and improvement.

What is inside the “black box”?

The “Black Box” column is a unique space, serving as a platform to showcase mistakes. It is not intended for criticism or blame, but rather for inspiration and education. We have all experienced the challenges of parenting, and by sharing our stories with other parents, whether they are tales of success or failure, we can learn from one another and foster personal growth.

Within this special section, mistakes are no longer viewed as failures, but rather as opportunities for personal development. By sharing and analyzing these mistakes, we can gather wisdom and cultivate more rational and beneficial parenting approaches. Our aim is for every parent to derive benefits from this platform, continuously refining their parenting skills and providing an improved growth environment for their children.

What is our vision?

Our ultimate vision is to build a supportive community of collective learning, enabling every child to experience optimal growth. As parents, we all strive to provide the best care and education for our children. However, achieving this goal requires us to acknowledge our mistakes and actively seek improvement. We invite each and every parent to join us in sharing stories of challenges, mistakes, and valuable lessons learned along the way.
