      Hi wonderful parents!

As a parent to a spirited toddler (almost 2!), I know we all experience those moments when our little ones’ emotions feel so big, they threaten to overwhelm everyone in the room. I was recently reflecting on a day when my little Leo was getting increasingly frustrated because their blocks wouldn’t stack ‘just right’. I could see the tantrum brewing, but instead of bracing for impact, I tried something different. I got down on their level, acknowledged their frustration (“Those blocks are being tricky, aren’t they? It’s really hard when things don’t work the way we want!”), and then gently offered to help them find a different way, or even just take a break and cuddle. It wasn’t magic, but it felt like we navigated the wave together rather than getting crashed by it.

It made me wonder, how do you all approach those moments of intense toddler frustration or big emotions *before* they turn into full-blown meltdowns? What are your ‘joyful connection’ strategies or little tricks to help your toddlers process their feelings in a way that feels supportive and constructive, rather than just trying to ‘stop’ the tantrum? I’m always looking for new ways to foster that bond and help Leo learn to navigate their big feelings with a little more ease (and maybe a little more joy for us parents too!).

      Looking forward to your wisdom!
